The purpose of the FLOW Aquatics Starfish Stroke School program is to further develop and refine freestyle technique as well as learn stroke technique for backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and more! By continuing to use easy to learn progressions, coupled with swimming fundamentals utilizing the most up-to-date techniques, we will teach your child to swim like the Olympians swim.
This course is for children of all ages who have achieved the Swim School Green (Stage 5) Benchmarks.
WHITE - Stage 6

Description |
The focus of this stage is freestyle with an introduction to backstroke. Students will already have the basic foundation to build upon for these two strokes. They have already learned proper breathing techniques for these strokes during the Swim School stages. This stage reinforces those habits while developing and critiquing proper stroke mechanics.

Description |
The focus on this stage is backstroke, with an introduction to butterfly. Starting with the simple backstroke progressions the children learned in Swim School, they will add stroke technique focuses to these progressions and eventually turn them into a beautiful whole stroke backstroke.

Description |
The focus of this stage is butterfly. Using a simple progressions, children will be introduced to butterfly one step at a time building on the fundamental core motion of the chest and hips. Once they master this core pulsing motion, breathing will be added and finally the arms to complete the whole stroke.

Description |
The focus on this stage is breaststroke. Using simple progressions, children will build their breaststroke from the kick to the pull, then add in the proper timing and eventually propulsion from the core.

GREEN - Stage 10

Description |
The children will build their endurance on all the strokes they have previously learned. Students will also be introduced to various training techniques as well that may be used for a lifetime, whether in competitive swimming or casual exercise. At the completion of this stage, students will have built up enough endurance with each stroke to begin comfortably on a swim team or take up swimming as a lifetime activity.
