Children's Lessons

Shannon is the absolute most patient person in a pool of kids! My son is 100% more comfortable in the water after his first month of lessons. His baths at home are much more enjoyable!!! Shannon has a way about her that is fun yet firm; kids definitely listen to her when they are in the pool. My son has thoroughly enjoyed his lessons at FLOW Aquatics.

Shannon has a fantastic method for captivating the interest of children in all age groups. My daughter had attended swimming lessons at a local gym and did not progress after 6 months of lessons twice a week. Her first month at FLOW Aquatics helped her gain confidence and several new swimming skills.

I have been swimming with FLOW Aquatics since I was little. If anyone wants their kids to grow up to be great swimmers, I would start with FLOW Aquatics. Shannon, the owner, is a great person and coach. I hope you love her as much as I do. Hannah G.

My son started swimming lessons at Flow Aquatics when he was just three years old. He is almost four now and can swim across the pool by himself! I credit the awesome coaches for this! The coach- to-student ratio is ideal for getting the most out of the 30 minute lesson one day a week. I love that my son gets direct one-on-one time with people who can relate to children and swimming so well. My son loves his coaches and even better loves to SWIM!

My oldest child, who just turned 8 years old, started classes here when he was just 3.  I didn't understand it at the time, but he has some problems with sensory processing that were causing him to always be very reluctant to try anything new that required any kind of physical coordination.  He was not confident in his own body's ability to function as other people's do.  The coaches (Shannon and Amber) have always been wonderful with him.  They are patient, reassuring, and firm.  His lessons here have been a great supplement to his official therapies and have helped him gain confidence.  At one point there was a little boy in his class who had autism and Amber also handled him with great finesse.  We've been gone for about a year now, but will be coming back soon.

FLOW Aquatics is great!  I want my kids to be strong, lifelong swimmers and I feel that they are getting a great foundation at FLOW.  I love the emphasis on safety and building confidence in the water.....not just learning a bunch of strokes.  That was what I learned as a kid and while I can swim, I am not very comfortable in the water and wish I was a much stronger swimmer.  The coaches are great, like all good educators they continue to build on their own skills by going to conferences and have a lot of different ideas for helping my kids keep progressing!

My 4 and 10 year old kids have been going for about a year.  I am absolutely amazed at how much progress they have made.  The coaches and everyone else at Flow Aquatics are great with the kids and very helpful.  I would highly recommend this swimming program to anyone.

My son is 4 years old and has autism. The coaches at FLOW Aquatics have been incredibly open and flexible in accommodating my sons special needs. He is very comfortable in the small, warm pool at their Meridian location and has made terrific progress on the basics of swim training. I would recommend this program to anyone who needs a little extra help becoming comfortable (and SAFE!) in the water. Wonderful people, excellent program!

I am a former competitive swimmer, lifeguard and swim instructor.  I began "flow" lessons with my granddaughter when she was 16 months old.  Now, at 3 1/2 she can swim half way across the pool using the flow method; she is completely comfortable in water; and she says she loves going to swimming!  I can't say enough good things about the coaches, the staff and the experience they provide to swimmers of all ages.

My daughter was afraid of the water and my husband and I were worried about safety issues and future swimming experiences. We looked for a site that offered a small class, with a more personal experience. We started at the Meridian site when our daughter was 4 and went once a week. Then moved each time a larger site became available. My daughter went weekly for almost 5 years and now is amazing in the water. She loves to swim and her confidence has drastically increased. She earned a trophy for her hard work and cherishes it. The whole team at Flow Aquatics made our experience memorable and life-changing. Thank you!

My son started lessons when he was three. He is now five and an amazing swimmer. He never had a fear of the water and that made me very nervous. But after two years of lessons, he is a great swimmer. Shannon is an amazing instructor and is fantastic with the kids! She makes them excited to learn and keeps them interested. We will be doing the summer intensives this year and I will be doing a two week session with my nine month old. I can hardly wait!

My daughter is taking swim lessons from Flow Aquatics at the Wings Center. She has been in for two weeks and already I can see such an improvement. She has past 1 & a half levels so far! I am so excited to see how she will do over the next 4 weeks. Thank you, Flow Aquatics, for all your hard work so far! Your learning style and your coaches are Awesome!!!

My daughter started lessons with FLOW Aquatics when she was just 15 months old. It was amazing watching her go from being very apprehensive about the water to absolutely LOVING it.  She would get so excited about going to swimming lessons.  The instructors have a 'way' with the babies. They were very calming for the babies in situations that may have been stressful (like floating on their backs). It felt so good seeing her confidence grow and the progress made each week.  I HIGHLY recommend them!

Flow Workshops and Private Lessons

I have been coached by Shannon and Mark for three winters and can notice a big difference. Swimming is a complicated  sport involving a wide variety of muscles and movements.  These coaches explain that the highly skilled swimmer slips or flows through the water rather than thrashing it.  In short, the water stays in one place and the swimmer slips through it  without much effort.  You have a choice; you can just keep on struggling and fighting the water or you can flow through the water. It is up to you.  Flow Aquatics is a high quality program and is reasonably priced for professional coaching !

I am a 45 year old woman who never learned how to swim.  I found Flow Aquatics through a friend and currently have my daughter enrolled there.  I saw the amazing transformation as they worked with her and now she swims like a fish.  My coach has been working with me for several months and somehow managed to get me to swim across a pool.  For adult non-swimmers the biggest fear is floating in the water so that no part of the body is touching anything.  Trust me when I tell you that my fear is HUGE and if I can learn how to swim across a pool so can you!  Don't let  fear of water control you!  Finding the courage to let go of all the fears that I have held onto for 45 years and finding a place like Flow Aquatics that can turn my fear into trust is a miracle!   If you are an adult that is fearful of the water I HIGHLY recommend you seek out Flow Aquatics.

I took the Flow Fundamentals workshop several years ago to gain more confidence in the water and to get me through some short distance triathlons. Shannon was a great teacher and got me to a new, comfortable place with my swimming. I swim much more efficiently now and have the confidence to attempt new goals.

Just a quick update on my progress. I've been spending about 30-40 min. a day on the drills before going to the rest of my daily workout and I'm amazed at the difference! I'm swimming so effortlessly (and fast!).

Cathy and I both wanted to thank you for an amazing experience learning to swim. You’re an incredible coach, and we are both excited to apply what you have taught us and see where it takes us.

Triatheletes

I had been swim "training" for several months in preparation for Ironman Coeur D'Alene at the end of June, but not really improving much. I wasn't worried too much about making the distance of 2.4 miles, but my technique was terrible and I was always very tired after swimming laps in the pool because of all the energy I was using due to poor technique. I finally decided that I needed some outside help and signed up for the FLOW workshop that a friend had recommended. By the end of the day, I felt much more efficient in the water - I was definitely "FLOWing" compared to my previous efforts.
