NEW FACILITY UPDATES
The Proposed Facility
The facility will be located off of Pine and Linder, across from Meridian High School. The site includes an existing building that will provide the reception area, offices, pro-shop and conference rooms. The proposed addition will be a monolithic thin shell concrete dome of approximately 6,200 sq ft, modified to enclose a 70 foot square aquatic center. This enclosure will house changing rooms, bathrooms, a glassed off viewing area and three pools off different sizes and temperatures to allow us to offer a variety of aquatic activities. The biggest pool being 24ft x 37.5ft and the smallest being our current Endless Pool at 14ft x 7ft. For those of you hoping for a "big" pool (i.e. 25 yard) that's Phase II and more years down the road as Phase I needs to pay for Phase II.
We are planning on making this facility as 'green' as possible through planned use of drain-back solar panels to augment the heating of pool water and an HVAC system which will recycle the "hot" air to heat pool water. We will also be using top-notch Ultra Violet (UV) technology in place of chlorine as the sanitation system in the pools. With the monolithic dome and the other energy saving technology we are using, this shall be the highest energy sustainable aquatic center in the nation. There is no other aquatics facility in the nation built at this time using the monolithic dome technology.
With this state-of-the-art "green" facility, FLOW Aquatics will be able to focus on enhancing the lives of people off all ages in our community. Through offerings of Learn to Swim, rehabilitation, adaptive aquatics, and aquatics exercise programs and superior service, we will provide 'life skill' development to all ages and abilities. We want to be able to touch people and help them do things they never thought possible. We want to change lives even if it is only by leaving them with the Joy that being a little more "One With the Water" brings.
